The Sun Temple at Konark, built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I, is a marvel of Odisha’s temple architecture. Shaped like a colossal chariot dedicated to Surya, the Sun God, it features intricately carved wheels, horses, and panels. The temple’s orientation allows sunlight to illuminate its inner sanctum.
Though partially ruined, its sculptures depict scenes from daily life, mythology, and celestial beings. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Konark showcases India's artistic, astronomical, and architectural genius from the medieval period.
