Dengue symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, and rash. Some patients experience mild bleeding (nose/gum), low white blood cell count, and fatigue. Warning signs of severe dengue (dengue hemorrhagic fever) include persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, or bleeding gums. These require emergency care.
Dengue is spread by Aedes mosquitoes, so prevention includes mosquito control and protection (nets, repellents). No specific treatment exists, but supportive care with fluids and rest can help recovery. Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs, as they can worsen bleeding. Timely medical care is crucial.
