First, call for emergency help or ask someone to do so. Lay the person flat on their back on a firm surface. Kneel beside them and begin chest compressions: push hard and fast in the center of the chest (at least 2 inches deep) at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
Allow the chest to rise between compressions. If trained, give 2 rescue breaths after every 30 compressions, tilting the head back and sealing the mouth. Continue until the person shows signs of life or emergency responders arrive. CPR can greatly increase survival chances.
