The first Cricket World Cup was held in 1975 in England. It was organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Eight teams participated, and matches were played as 60 overs per side in traditional white kits with red balls. West Indies emerged victorious by defeating Australia in the final at Lord’s.
The event marked the beginning of international One Day International (ODI) tournaments. Since then, the World Cup has evolved, including more teams, formats, and innovations in broadcasting and gameplay.
